The W Class Trams are a family of electric trams built by the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB) between 1923 and 1956. Melbourne's iconic fleet of W-Class trams servicing the City Circle are currently being restored so they can operate on Melbourne's tram network for many years to come.
A total of 12 trams are scheduled to be completed by 2020. Melbourne W-class Tram Is a family of electric trams built between 1923 and 1956. In total 752 trams were built. A small fleet continues to operate on the tramway network of Melbourne. The W-class tram has become a cultural icon and those that remain in Melbourne are classified by the National Trust of Australia.
